Raw Model Delightful interview running longer than usual. He (and I) had thoughts on permaculture and how the people of this nation need to transition to taking more responsibility for their food and their health; homeschooling; eating fats and what kind, training.. and more. We spoke about his food program; why and how he transitioned to raw; how to BE raw living in cold country, his blog/sites and where he’s going and what he’s doing. Before getting sick, Clent Manich weighed as much as 450 pounds and was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. During our interview we talk with him about how it was being that large and what it took to eliminate 217 pounds in less than a year. What were his fears? What had he tried before? Why raw? How much exercise did he do? Most importantly, how is this dramatic weight release affecting him mentally and emotionally.

I heard Dr. Latham speak at Agape a few weeks before doing this interview. He’s been around for quite some time yet, not many who are new to the raw/living food world know who he is. He’s been eating this way for almost 30 years. At the presentation his assistant made the most delicious “savory pie”. It was incredible to have greens in the pie. The combination was amazing.
One of the things I had to ask Dr. Latham was, “Since you have someone who makes your food, do you eat this way every day?” You’ll find the answer in this interview.

DR. ARIS LATHAM has been a ‘raw foodist’ for the past 28 years. He has catered raw and vegetarian food all over the world, including for the U.S. Congress and major stars like Lauryn Hill, Cecile Tyson, Erykah Badu, Sidney Poitier, and Ben Vereen all vegetarians. Dr. Aris LaTham explains what the raw food diet is all about.
Dr. Aris LaTham has a Master’s degree in Linguistics and a Ph.D. in Food Science. He has been featured on major television stations in the United States (ABC & NBC), and major publications (Essence magazine, Time magazine, Vegetarian Times). He has done seminars for the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) and has done consultations for Strawberry Hill, Swept Away and the Golden Door, a spa in the United States and Mexico. Dr. LaTham currently lives and works in St. Mary and teaches food preparation courses, has chef/cook training, offers assistance in detoxifying the individual and kitchen (ridding the kitchen of toxic substances and restocking it with healthful food), and runs a spa.

I always enjoy chatting with Victoria Boutenko. This time I managed to catch her in her booth at Raw Spirit Festival without a crowd around her. We spoke about her latest research and what she’s doing now. Changes she’s making; thoughts, ideas and experiences she’s confirmed, tweaked or softened. Another interesting and informative program. In this show Alissa updates everyone on the dehydrator and cookbook AND talks about how her class assisted one almost-homeless classmate to be all that she can be. She shows how it’s really not JUST about the food. We chat about upper limits, molestation, drugs and celebrating one’s potential. We also talk about how people go into the training afraid to speak up and leaving having created a speech about their experiences during the training. This episode brought tears to my eyes with all the good that’s happening. Enjoy!
