Hey everyone! My name is Rory and I’m a former CT native, born and grew up in West Haven. I moved to PA to do an organic farming internship at the Fulton Center for Sustainable Living where I not only learned a lot of the hands on experience of farming but I also met the girl of my dreams! Not a bad deal eh? I got into raw foods about two years ago and after learning a lot I’ve eased comfortably into the 100% raw lifestyle and I’m loving it! I was certified in raw and living foods prep by Jody Allen (an amazing raw food chef and teacher with over ten years experience, check out her work and beautiful recipes not to mention classes at Loving Life Cafe) and it was such a great experience!
When I’m not busy being a food geek … I like to read (especially DIY stuff and about spirituality), LOVE music! Anything from Dave Mathews to DJ Shadow, They Might Be Giants, Angels and Airwaves, Motion City Soundtrack, Danger Doom, Unkle, Death Cab for Cutie and waaaaaay to many more to type out! I enjoy movies of all sorts from cheezy horror flicks to documentaries, and even romantic comedies (thanks for dragging me kickin’ and screaming into this wonderful genre, Amanda!). I enjoy stand up comedy especially Eddie Izzard and George Carlin (miss ya man, thanks for all the laughter and busted guts). I love going for walks, hikes and hittin’ the Wii Fit! I try to find time for my other passion; building and creating stuff (hopefully a lovely lil’ strawbale house someday!). I haven’t lost my passion for organic farming, although I’ve steered my life in a different direction now. I still look forward to the day when I can create a small homestead Permaculture food system for me and my family! Most of all I love doing all these things and more with my lovely wife and daughter! My wifes’ handy work can be seen in the design of my page (and painstakingly corrected grammar!) and the filming and editing of my raw-food recipe videos. Thanks for all your hard work and for bringing out all sorts of stuff in me that’ll never make it to the final video edits! *laughing* I’d also like to say Hi to our wonderful daughter Isabel! Rock on and when are you coming out with your next raw-food video?? Much love to everyone checking out my work and passions and all my friends and family everywhere!
This interview took a surprising turn for me when I found out a few minutes before that Elaina’s son had been diagnosed with Leukemia. We spoke quite a bit about that and how she dealt with it and that her ex-husband is not raw and the choices made and still being made. Fascinating and open interview.
I’ve been trying to get Fred to join me here on Rawkin’ Radio for quite some time. When I began, I was told he wasn’t doing interviews. Lucky for us, he’s back in the limelight. He also has a new book and dvd out. About Dr. Fred Bisci:
Dr. Fred Bisci has a Ph.D. in Nutritional Science. Fred, as he prefers to be called, has had a pioneering and active practice in New York City for over forty years. He has worked with over 35,000 people all over the world with numerous health issues by helping them change their eating and drinking lifestyles through his Real, Fresh Food approach. His outlook is unique. He looks at biochemical interrelationships, rather than a simple dietary or nutritional standpoint. This biochemical appreciation of how the multiple variables work in the human body are directly related to a lifestyle of what is left out and what is put in. Fred has developed the INTERMEDIATE LEVEL MENU which is the core feature for creating a Healthy Lifestyle Program. His program helps you name your current program and meets you “where you’re at”. Fred empowers you to set healthier personal parameters through eating and drinking various combinations of food as you commit to a Healthy Lifestyle Program. Fred’s main foundation built from his devotion to helping others, combined with his raw food lifestyle for over forty years, has revealed the intimate relationship of real food and the body’s God-given ability to always seek health.
Storm Talifero is a 30 year plus raw foodist. His pictures tell his story. His life unfolds during this interview from having a heart attack at the age of 18 to evolving into the raw food vegan he is today. He speaks about assisting his wife Jinjee in home-birthing their four children and what his role is in raising them. Storm has been eating a raw-vegan diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds in their natural unheated state for over 30 years and has become known amongst raw-vegans for his body builder’s physique. At 57 he appears decades younger.
In this interview we find out who Dhrumil is and his background. We talk about the “honeymoon phase” of eating raw, dealing with old “stuff” and not suppressing it with food. He explains a quick “Falling Still” meditation showing how easy it is to take a moment to come back to ourselves thereby releasing stress. We also talk about the importance of community.
Paul Nison, raw foods chef, educator and motivational speaker, has been featured on The Food Network and in several magazines and newspapers. He travels worldwide giving lectures and classes on raw food nutrition and preparation to show people how easy and fun the raw lifestyle can be.
Paul Nison was completely healed from inflammatory bowel disease through eating a raw food diet. He coaches those suffering from all diseases on how to get better. If you would like to enquire further about how he was cured and how you can improve your health, please read his book “Healing Inflammatory Bowel Disease”. The principles in this book will help everyone improve their health regardless of their condition.

I always enjoy chatting with Victoria Boutenko. This time I managed to catch her in her booth at Raw Spirit Festival without a crowd around her. We spoke about her latest research and what she’s doing now. Changes she’s making; thoughts, ideas and experiences she’s confirmed, tweaked or softened. At one point, I had to ask the question that she said people talk more about than all the research she has done. Listen in to find out what that question is, and the answer to it.
"Kill your television and make something, think something, BE something instead!"
After reading the words above, I KNEW I was going to like Tonya Kay. Her profile says: 25 year vegetarian, 15 year vegan, and 6 years raw… which makes her 46… or so I asked during our interview. She’s got an amazing sense of humor, an infectious laugh and a great love for life. In this interview we talk about how she chose life over depression, birth control, how she cares for elephants and many other things including her latest leading role.
Another fun interview with co-writers and co-producers, Jennifer Mattox and Doug Clemons from the film "All Jacked Up" about teens and the effects of junk food.
During the film, while following four teens through part of their lives, their "curious interviewer," Bobby Rice, finds out more than expected… which leads us deeper into the understanding of these teens. Bobby interviews various people including Gabriel Cousens, Mike Adams, experts and chat with a teen vegetarian, vegan and, Sergei Boutenko, a raw foodist.
Jennifer Mattox is a 15-year veteran of journalism and communication arts. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Florida in 1989. She possesses a great depth of experience in numerous corporate environments, in creative production, marketing, and publicity, holding both management and executive roles.
Jennifer founded Faerie Films in 2004 as a vehicle to voice her social concerns and empower audiences in support of these causes.
Doug Clemons joined Faerie Films in 2005 to contribute to the company’s market strategy, funding, and distribution opportunities.

This was originally posted on Celebrating Your Potential when I started that program. It got rather confusing going from raw to self-help interviews and when Alissa left Rawkin’ Radio, I decided to keep it going and make it just for raw and CYP became just for personal growth. I’ve now decided to move all my interviews from CYP with Raw Foods over to this one rather than pay for another URL I’m only using to hold a few shows. So, if you’ve not heard them before.. and even if you have… enjoy!
Victoria says: We are the Boutenko family, also known as the Raw Family. The four of us embarked on a diet of entirely raw foods in 1994, when we became seriously ill. Victoria had arrhythmia and edema and was obese and depressed. Igor suffered from painful rheumatoid arthritis and had severe hyperthyroid. Sergei was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and was supposed to go on insulin. Valya had asthma. After we went on a raw diet, we healed all of our health problems. You may read our complete story in our book Raw Family. Having been on raw foods for so many years, we have acquired invaluable experience in living on a raw food diet. In our lectures, books and videos we share our knowledge. In this enlightening interview, raw food researcher and author, Victoria Boutenko relates how she has changed her views on going 100% raw immediately and the best ways to go about it while our bodies are transforming and moving into this new lifestyle. She also talks about her new book; new research and how her children are doing. You will LOVE this interview.
